Food Rescue:
This involves the sourcing, collecting, sorting, storage and distribution of rescued / donated food. The food is defaced and then distributed to registered non-profit organisations (NPOs) that provide cooked meals to the most vulnerable people. More than 600 registered organisations are currently assisted by Meals on Wheels Food Security & Development Agency.
Food Procurement:
To supplement the nutritional value of the donated food basket, Meals on Wheels Food Security & Development Agency purchases (where funding permits) basic food items such as samp, sugar beans, rice, lentils, maize meal etc.
Food Development:
Meals on Wheels Food Security & Development Agency strives to create jobs by initiating development initiatives with partner organisations, and supporting small-scale farmers. Our strategy envisages that beneficiary organisations become self-sustainable, so that new organisations may join.
